Courtney + Steve // Reading Viaduct Engagement Session

I recently had an extra day in Philadelphia after photographing a wedding and I'm so glad Courtney and Steve wanted to set up an engagement shoot. We wandered through the abandoned, overgrown urban jungle of the Reading Viaduct for over an hour on this warm, summer Sunday evening. I loved the Viaduct - it gave us nature and my typical abundance of green but was bursting with character and wide open Philly skylines. Would definitely recommend.

I love watching couples interact and honing in on their vibe. Courtney and Steve naturally fell into romantic gestures (one of their favorite things were the quiet moments - heads resting together, hands clasped tight) and I ran with that.

Side note: Blue hour is always my favorite and this blue hour was one of the best. Definitely don't end your engagement shoot when the sun goes down.

If you can't tell, I'm a fan of dancing during engagement shoots. You should definitely twirl.

Flowy dresses forever.

On top of all the other types of beautiful light we got, there was a tiny rainbow. Thanks, world.

I always feel like guys get the short end of the stick in photography and have been making it a point to take strong dude portraits during shoots. Guys get to be pretty, too. ;)

Really, these last few blue hour portraits are what I live for. So close, so gritty, and so real.

I loved what we saw of Philadelphia over the course of this little adventure and can't wait to shoot there again!
