The Lindens

I’d never been to Big Spring Farm before, and as crazy as this sounds, I’d never even met Kaia + Drew before their wedding. So it was pretty shocking to arrive at the family friend’s home that Kaia was getting ready at in downtown Lexington and immediately know this was going to be one of my favorite weddings of the year.

Kaia + Drew bucked the now-common first look tradition and didn’t see each other until she was walking down the aisle, surrounded by willows and all their family and friends. From then onwards, the day was so emotional, and so beautiful.

I’ve always loved House Mountain, the prominent ridgeline that towers over I-64 near Lexington, so it was pretty cool to learn both that it’s special to Kaia, too, and that we’d be able to take golden hour portraits with it in the background.

Kaia + Drew also bucked another tradition and had their guests vote on an entirely new last name, rather than keeping either of theirs. I’ve heard that this is a trend on social media, but apparently Kaia’s parents did the same thing at their own wedding decades ago, so you could say they were really just carrying on a tradition of their own.

This is the fastest I’ve ever posted wedding photos on my blog, but I just loved them so much that I wanted to share all of these as soon as I could. It’s pretty rare that toast photos in particular are my favorite part of the day, but their toasts were special. Definitely worth scrolling all the way to the end. You can just really feel all the joy + love.
