A golden-lit Shenandoah National Park engagement

blue ridge wedding photographer

I'm always adding places to my list of "must shoot" locations. Stony Man was one of the first on that list, so when Sarah told me "Mason and I just want to go on an adventure in the National Park - you can pick where," I knew where we were going. We started off wandering around the golden, glimmering vastness of Big Meadows and then headed up to Stony Man for sunset. The peak was pretty full of people, but we snuck off to some side and found some cliffs Sarah + Mason could have totally to themselves.

I knew from the moment I started talking with Sarah that this was going to be a special one - the way her & Mason talk about each other is not something you see every day and their story that runs back to high school and being each others' first kiss is also pretty dang special. I love stepping away on shoots and giving couples space to fill with their own personalities. Sarah + Mason filled this space with love, laughter, and cute nicknames. I definitely wasn't surprised when they got engaged a month after this shoot.

heading up to Orange tomorrow to photograph one more winter wedding then back on a "it's really freaking cold" hiatus for a while longer. do you guys have any big off-season projects you've been tackling in the new year? i've been knocking out a string of eternal-to-do list stuff lately and i'm basically dancing in a vineyard in my mind about it 🕺🕺🕺⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
-⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
hope everyone has an amazing weekend!
hey. it's valentine’s day! as a very love-adjacent professional, I hope you're spending it snuggling exactly like this with your boo today, whether it's somewhere beautiful like Land's End or on the couch binging Netflix. but also like maybe hold each other tight, cook each other elaborate meals, buy flowers, make grand romantic gestures, write each other adorable little love notes, make little romantic gestures, do deeply thoughtful things - all the valentine’s activities - on totally random other days too, ya know?
A couple early frames from Erin + Jose’s wedding at the Carnegie Institution on Saturday! This day was full of so much love + joy, so much beautiful architecture, so many gorgeous florals, and side note: I don’t think it’s possible to kick off a year on a more incredible note than Erin’s ceremony entrance… that staircase 😍
On my way into DC to photograph these two get married later today! First wedding of 2019, woop woop!! See you guys soon!

How much green can possibly be contained in a single photo? I have found the answer & it is this. Also featuring a Kristin & Joe being adorable.
i never really mentioned this aside from some random story posts, but we went to cozumel, mexico to totally turn off for a week at the very beginning of last month. it's a touristy place in the grand scheme of things, but it was probably the furthest i've ever gone from "american" culture since i haven't been traveling internationally very long. i really wasn't expecting it from this trip, but it ended up making me want to travel further + more than anywhere else i've been. loved the time we took to wander back streets, away from all the shops, talking to people who live a life so different from ours, eating food i'd literally never heard of, and just being somewhere that felt very foreign to me.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

here's a 🌺 we stumbled upon hanging out of someone's backyard on one of our morning walks.
hey y’all! I’m limiting myself to the same number of weddings as last year in 2019 to keep myself sane & hopefully have a bit more time for some creative experimentation this time around. I’ve reached 3 weddings out from that limit a bit sooner than expected, so if you’ve been meaning to reach out about having me document your celebration but putting it off, you should get in touch! would love to hear from ya.
