Cassie + Blake // a Grand Tetons wedding atop Glory Peak
Up until last year, I’d never been to the Grand Tetons before. One crazy, snowy week in February later, and I’d begun to think it was a pretty incredible place. Cassie + Blake reached out sometime last summer with a somewhat intense plan - they wanted to both return to their favorite summit in the Tetons, and also have a wedding with their friends and fam, all in the same day. Despite the fact that I’ve done a lot of crazy things in my 10 years of photographing weddings, I’d never really done this much in a single day. The hike required climbing and descending 1700’ in under a mile, which is pretty brutal. I was pretty hesitant about the idea, but this was all very important to them, and I would say I'm up for just about anything.
So we met up at 9 in the morning and climbed high above Teton Pass, to Glory Peak, for their first look and vows with their wedding party. Despite the steep climb, just about everyone present was tearing up by the time they were done. And then we all essentially rolled back down the mountain to head to the house where they’d do the whole thing in front of 65 of their closest friends and family in Driggs.
Their ceremony in front of everyone took place in the shadows of the Tetons on the Idaho side - another insane view that I’d never seen before this weekend - and we got a beautiful light show as the sun was setting over it all. Honestly, impossible to pick my favorite view from the day. Really glad we stuck to their plan. So glad I was able to be a part of it.
